As Salaamu’Alaikum

Dear Young Muslims,

Today we will learn about Islamic Greetings.

Greetings in Islam

If you see a Muslim friend or relative, you have to greet him or her the Islamic way by saying:

Assalamu Alaikum
Peace be upon you

See how beautiful our Islamic greeting is? You ask from Allah that peace be upon your Muslim brother or sister and they will reply:

Waalaikum Assalam
Peace be upon you too

They will ask the same from Allah, that Allah may grant you peace as well. You should NOT greet Kafirs (non-Muslims) with this greeting, because they don't believe in Allah subhanaho wa taalaa. If non-Muslims tell you "HI", then you should reply with:

Waalaikum
upon you too

If you think about it Young Muslims, see how much more our greeting is beautiful and makes more sense? Don't forget to greet your Muslim friends and family members with Assalamu Alaikum. Try to avoid greetings like HI.

Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said “You will not go to Janna until you become Mu’mins (good Muslims) and you will not be Mu’mins until you love each other, and do you want me to tell you something that if you do you will love each other? Say salaam to each other!”

Also…Prophet Muhammad said…that when you say “Assalamu Alaikum" you get 10 hasanat…and when you say “Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah” you get 20 hasanat… and when you say “Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatoh” then you get 30 hasanat.

** Remember Allah multiplies each Hasana by 10!!

Subhan Allah, see how much reward and excellence there is in greeting your Muslim brothers and sisters with Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa barakatoh. It also creates love and a sense of unity between Muslims.

This is it for now! InshaaAllah, soon we will send you the story of Adam. Feel free to write to us and tell us if you greet your family and friends with Assalamu Alaikum, and if you have any questions about the little lesson. Also, if you would like to, tell us if you know anything about the story of Adam inshaaAllah. Make sure if you write , you greet us with the Islamic greeting inshaaAllah. OK?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatoh
